Join the Jarre In Seville Group on Facebook

With the goal of gathering all information not only about the concert that Jean-Michel Jarre will hold in Seville on July 8, 2025, but also regarding options for accommodation, gastronomy, sightseeing, and overall to coordinate fans who will meet in Seville around this event, Fairlight Jarre has created a Facebook group for this purpose: Jarre In Sevilla.

Within hours of its creation, the number of subscribed fans skyrocketed, such is the anticipation generated by the concert in Spain.

But another exciting moment followed, an absolute surprise: Jean-Michel Jarre himself requested to join this group, a membership that, as expected, was promptly accepted.

We invite Jarre fans, and especially those planning to enjoy the live concert in Seville, to join this group where, in addition to accessing first-hand information, they will find a space for discussion and sharing the latest updates that the Jarre universe will generate leading up to that marked date.

Fairlight Jarre Returns for the Seville Concert!

Dear Jean-Michel Jarre followers,

We are excited to announce that, with Jean-Michel Jarre’s upcoming concert in Seville, Fairlight Jarre is resuming activity. Since our beginnings as a fanzine in 1996 and our transition to a website in 1998, this space has become a hub for those who wish to explore Jarre’s work with an objective and thoughtful perspective.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of conducting exclusive interviews with key collaborators in Jarre’s career, such as Michel Geiss, his longtime studio partner, and Claude Samard, a central figure in his productions and live shows. Through these conversations, we’ve offered readers an authentic look into the inner workings of Jarre’s music, revealing both achievements and challenges.

Fairlight Jarre has also organized memorable events, like the two “Rendez-Vous” gatherings in Benicarló, where fans came together to exchange ideas and opinions about Jarre’s impact and evolution. These gatherings have been a chance to discuss, analyze, and celebrate from a perspective that appreciates both the highlights and the more debatable aspects of Jarre’s career.

With this revival, Fairlight Jarre begins a new chapter where we will continue to share news, insights, and reflections on Jean-Michel Jarre’s journey. We invite all followers to join us in this renewed adventure, where we’ll continue exploring and debating, always staying true to our honest view of his legacy.

See you in Seville and on Fairlight Jarre, ready to keep exploring Jarre’s universe together.

In memoriam Paco Rico

Althought it seemed inevitable, this is one of those post I’d prefer not to write. Francisco Rico, also know as Paco or Fran passed away last night after a terrible and long illness.

Probably the more veterans in this website remembers Paco. He was the “daddy” of this great family popularly known as Fairlight Jarre, and one of the very first ones supporting this website/magazine in the middle 90’s. Others probably meet him in the Jarre Fan Meeting in Alicante, a couple of years ago.

Paco was’nt only a great friend, he was also an extrardinary person an a passionate about music.

See you soon, Paco.

Studio Master versions for “Essentials & Rarities”, “Oxygene” and “Equinoxe”

As previously reported, “Essentials & Rarities” will be for sale  (actually only under reservation) as digital download from some Music Stores in Internet… but this will include only the “Rarities” volume..

Some French Stores will also offer the “Studio Master” version of the album. According our info coming from DISQUES DEYFUS, those Studio Masters consists in 24bit Wav files which gives us the complete feel of the original CD. It should also be noted that the tracks included in “Essentials &Rarities” comes directly from the original Master tapes and were mastered by PATRICK PELAMOURGUES in HD.

But “Rarities” will not be the only the first album released in Studio Master quality… “Equinoxe” and “Oxygene” versions are also expected very soon in this format.

Qobuz.com is the only french website at the moment with a Studio Master option of “Rarities”, but other french websites are going to join this elected club in the next weeks.

FAIRLIGHT JARRE would like to thank BENJAMIN GUYOT, from DISQUES DREYFUS, for his kindness and support

Oxygène Tour 2008: Valladolid

DAY 3. VALLADOLID: (Translation by Javier Moragón “Zopa”)

After the long last day, we wake up at 11:00 h. We decided to relax because after the Valladolid concert we will were travelling right to Valencia by car.
Dani and I went destination Pucela at 12:00 h. We stopped to have “breakfast”, yes to have “breakfast” at 13:00 at a gas station in the freeway.
At 14:30 we arrived to Valladolid. After few attempts to find a parking for the car, finally we succeeded it and went to Plaza Mayor, where they were waiting for us very hungry. There were Rubén Olmedo, Pacus 73 and Raúl Gonzalo. Once again, I had the same feelings that I had in the past days. What a great pleasure to meet at last Rubén Olmedo, one of the pioneers, and in charge of organization of the 3 first Rendez!!
We were very hungry, so we went to eat to a restaurant. It was difficult to find a restaurant, because it was a holyday in Valladolid and all the restaurants were full of people, but fortunately, we found a good place, with a great menu and it only cost 12 Euros!!

As soon we started to eat, Carlos Ávila (Aeronautic) called me by phone, a good friend who I met at the concert of Francis Rimbert in Suresnes last June, and told me that he was already at the Auditorium, waiting for the musicians. We changed opinions each other and we decided to see each other there after lunch.

In that moment, I called Francis again and he told me that he were already there and that I could go there when I want, because I’ve got my pass and I could do what I want (but not photos with flash).
So, after lunch, we went right to the Auditorium.

Once there, I met Carlos and a tiny group of fans (I’m sorry, I don’t remember their names), and we were chatting about previous concerts, about what we were waiting for this concert, etc, etc, etc.

Oxygène Tour 2008: Madrid

DAY 2: MADRID: (Translated by Javier Moragón “Zopa”)

The alarm clock rings. It’s 8:00 A.M. It was not a dream… What happened yesterday was for real!! It was so real, that I’ve got a T-shirt. And where is my program?? Oh, yes, Rimbert has it… Would he take it me back signed by Jarre?? Or would be he forgets it somewhere as he is such an absent minded person??

Well, after having a quick shower, and after having a big breakfast with Marta and Karel (we don’t know when we would have lunch), we took the baggage and we went very quickly right to the airport (thanks to Marta, she is a brilliant driver; we arrived there in less than 30 minutes).
Meanwhile we were waiting at the airport I enjoyed a very nice chat with Karel. We talked about personal issues, like family, work, etc, etc… Issues that now and then are nice to talk about to discover the human side of every person.

Karel having fun

After a long wait finally we took the flight to Madrid. Of course, we arrived with more than 30 minutes of delay, but it didn’t mind so much. We had plenty of time ahead.
Karel and I took different ways at the underground, because he was going to his Hotel in Gran Via and I was going to meet with another great friend and great person, Dani (Vignemale in the Forum). After leave my baggage in his home, we left there right to have lunch at Bar Al Norte, beside the Royal Palace… And finally we arrived there at 15:30 or so. There was waiting for us the great David (Piscis 13). It was a big pleasure to meet him in person and to share a great menu with him, Dani and Karel.

Concert posters in the Rambles, outside Liceu

Marta and I arrived in Barcelona midday Monday, and after have lunch, I met with Miguel Ángel (Josmitar for the absent-minded persons) because we had an appointment with ML and Rimbert at the Liceu. So, we went there so nervous!! (Would they allow us to watch the rehearsal??  Would we make an interview with Rimbert??)
We met them at the door (they were smoking, as usual) and after greet them and taking some photos, they said us that they could not credit us for the concert, because of the amazing security measures on site (Jarre defined it in his blog like Fort Knox), but there wouldn’t be any problem for Madrid and Valladolid. So, after the initial displeasure, MAE and I said goodbye until the night.

JMJ’s “Mury” to be re-released as part of a Lluís Llach album

Many of you probably know the “Mury” song performed by Jean Michel Jarre in the Solidarnosk concert. What probably a lot of people dont knows is this song was originally released as “La Estaca” by Lluís Llach, a Catalan singer, during the 60’s.

Ok, and what? Here are the news:

Picab Music has just released Si vens amb Mi, a tribute album to the Catalan singer Lluís Llach where some wellknow artists perform versions of famous Llach tunes.

The real new for us is about the 16th track of the album, which is Jean Miche’s Jarre “Mury” song but with a very different title: “Around Mury”. This song is extracted from the Solidarnosk DVD.

This is the first time we see Lluis Llach work officially credited as the original source of the Jarre song since according our sources the Mury/La Estaca track was performed by Jarre in Poland without any knowledge in Llach’s side.

Lady’s and Gentlemen, with you “La Estaca” by Lluís Llach:
