Disques Dreyfus Closes

Few weeks ago we received the information of the absorption by the entertainment giant BMG‘s of the legendary French label Disques Dreyfus, created by Francis Dreyfus in 1978 to channel the success with the first album by Jean Michel Jarre, Oxygene. It will be starting on January 4 when the headquarters of the French label, located in the Parisian avenue Kleber, wiil be closed passing the management and record archives to the dependencies of BMG Rights Management Group.

On that date and with this “transfer of power” the genuine label disappears as such, without which Jean Michel Jarre possibly not have developed his successful career. Workers will lose their jobs in Dreyfus, some of whom lived through the birth of this company, and our solidarity will go with them

Surely in the next few years many of its vast catalog titles will be remastered and reissued. Sold under new presentations and packaged, which unfortunately will not see printed logo legendary rugged naked woman.

New Album of Francis Rimbert: Act 1. Available for Download

Today is available for download on iTunes the first in a series of new songs by Francis Rimbert.

With the launch of this pimer volume, “ACT1” we have been in contact with the protagonist and has commented:

“When I prepare a new album, normally delivery of the memories that come to mind from the meetings I have with musicians, friends, fans, etc..

In recent years on the road touring with JMJ, I have accumulated memories of places, people, moments away from time and many other emotions that make my life as a splendid caleidoscopo. Then what I try to do is turn these memories into music.

Furthermore, on the other side are all those artists who come to spend a few hours in my studio, just for the pleasure of sharing our musical ideas.

That is why we decided to carry out a series of albums with different styles and where you can find different influences.

To start this first act I’ve chosen a fun and rambunctious group named AT KEYS.

Also, my daughter AMBRE at that time was working as a dancer in Disneyland with a group called Les tabards of Feu.

So with all this, and with my inseparable Marie-Laure we took a trip to the forest with all this gang to produce 3 videoclips, simple but fun with the sole ambition of fun. Hence arose two of the tracks of this : ACT 1: JOANNA (originally written for a Polish friend) and WHAT’S UP.

We spent hours very funny, very good times bring out in me a smile every time I see these clips. So this ACT1 begins with a note of good humor.

On the track FEET you can hear a howl through a phone and speaking in broken English saying something like “I am your servant.” The rest of this track, very funky indeed develops with these voices in English.

Finally, MEPHISTO, you can hear an acoustic guitar that gives a clear Spanish accent. This theme I composed especially for JUAN GOMIS, the webmaster of my website in Spain as well as the distributor of my albums in Spanish territory. Juan is more than a friend, is a formidable friend with a smile that can light the darkest night.

ACT1, now available on iTunes to 0.99 € each track:

1 – Joanna (3:22)

2 – Fet (3:57)

3 – Mephisto (3:51)

4 – What’s up (3:22)

And here, and thanks to Radio Equinoxe, we can find some very early and rare Jarre tracks like “Setyricon” (an early version of “Equinoxe 5”) and a fragment of the music composed by Jarre for the ballet “Dorian”.

Second Edition of “Jean Michel Jarre, le magicien du son et de la lumière”

In late 2008 we talked about the release of a new biography of Jean-Michel Jarre, published in France: “Jean Michel Jarre, Le Magicien du son et de la lumère”, by Cöetquen Editions. Well, next  October 28th will be launched in France the second edition of this book, updated through 2011 and the concert in Monaco.
“Before the Oxygene album come out, only some people were interested on synthesizers, and in what was called electro-acoustic music. With Oxygene, Jean Michel Jarre disturbed the waves and popularized a new genre of music, electronic music.
Followed by Michel Geiss, and the Jarre Tribe (Dominique Perrier, Francis Rimbert, Sylvain Durand, Frederic Rousseau, GuyDelacroix, Jo Hammer …), Jean Michel creates in his studio in Croissy  sounds and album appealing millions of people around the world (more than 80 million albums sold to date).
On July 14, 79, Jean Michel Jarre and his producer Francis Dreyfus proposed an experimental concert in the Place de la Concorde of Paris with a mix of music, light and fireworks. The show was overcrowded,  everyone was surprised, and it was something never seen before, a million spectators gathered to the concert. The concept of cities in concert just born in that very moment.
From Houston to Monaco, from Moscow to London Docklands, millions of people attended the concert of Jean MichelJarre. ”
This biography deals from Jarre’s childhood to the present day.
It contains a booklet of photos, where two members of the Forum of Fairlight Jarre, Ecocharlie (Juan Mora) and Sergio Keys have collaborated with some photographs and testimonies about the concerts of Santiago 2010 and Monaco 2011.
