XV Rendez Vous Benicarló: A Total Success

A total success. This is the conclusion drawn from the comments, impressions, photos and videos recapitulated after the celebration of the 15th  annual meetings of fans of Jean Michel Jarre organized by FAIRLIGHT JARRE: The Rendez-Vous.
This is the second Rendez held in Benicarlo, again organized by the Webmaster of FAIRLIGHT JARRE GOMIS JUAN, and had nearly fifty participants including members, musicians and organizers also attracted the public celebration of open-air concert in the Saturday night.
As in all Rendez-Vous held in previous years, the good food and the lively debates and discussions about electronic music were the focus of this meeting, as well as live music this time with the added attraction of being able to enjoy a concert ” outdoor ” with so nice weather. And that was the point of this meeting. A sign where the musical quality of the participants made the nearly three hours of live electronic music will be passed as a sigh.
He opened the concert DREAMING (Francisco Domenech), the Rendez veteran musician and renowned for its ability to recreate a perfect versions  of musicians like Kraftwerk, Azul y Negro and of course JARRE. Especially praised was the song “Moon Machine” and other DREAMING own compositions as a new preview of his work “Dreaming With Synthesis”.
We follow the Argentine XETHIS (Franco Palmetti) who had special collaborations QUIMGAGARIN (Quim Bertrán), in introducing and interpreting “Oxygene 10” with his Theremin, and JORGE Bonache guitarist of the group NO COMMENT incorporating a fantastic guitar solo on XETHIS’ music.
The third performance was that of NO COMMENT (José and Jorge Bonache) who diversified their sound between Jarrer electronics (with a cover of “Revolutions” shocking) and harmonic textures of progressive rock in addition to own pieces of the repertoire of NO COMMENT.
The closing concert and party, was played by the legendary electronic band of 70-80 years,  SPACE ART, rescued by one of its founding members, in addition to musical collaborator with Jean Michel Jarre, DOMINIQUE PERRIER. Accompanied by MICHEL VALY (bass), Alain Pype (electronic drums) and LILI LACOMBE (violin midi) PERRIER did flaunt his ease when running complex leads to their keyboards (including the legendary Arp Odyssey with whom he recorded several albums ). Those alone owes much fame as a musician live, and in the collective memory is JARRE fans who ran on “Magnetic Fields 2” concerts in China in 1981.
SPACE ART’s performance found their summits in the opening moments of “Stone Art”, with the warm sound of “Onyx” (first single from the album in 1976 sold over 2 million records ) and with the party that accompanied “Space Chicken”, with the musicians playing in the audience the sky colored by fireworks. This concert in Spain Benicarlo-exclusive-is part of a promotional tour that is taking them to several European countries.
The XV Rendez Vous  would officially concluded with community lunch held on Sunday at Hotel Rosi, during which attendees had the chance to chat with some members of SPACE ART  and be signed recently released the album “Space Art Tribute” published by the label CZEN PROD. and available for sale through his website.
Two weeks after this Rendez, memories and testimonials, photographs and videos of participants Benicarló soar this quote in one of the most successful meetings, with greater impact on the local media and regional, but especially by the index satisfaction awarded by the audience.

Chronicle of a Memorable Evening

Once in Santiago de Compostela, and after a few anxious moments when, because of my proverbial dumbness, misplaced my boarding pass, my brother Punch, our beloved Maestro Raúl Gonzalo and I settled in our brand new hostel apartment Casa Felisa, later known as the “HomoFlat” and after calling Juan to tell him that there were already in Compostela, we were all in the Plaza del Obradoiro. There, like so many times, I felt the thrill of seeing my dear comrades, one of the most special encounters, I think it was mutual, was that of Juan and me: they are many things that he and I have lived, many emails, many projects, and, above all, a great desire to meet again in person was ours, an embrace of the most touching and exciting.

Oxygène Tour 2008: Valladolid

DAY 3. VALLADOLID: (Translation by Javier Moragón “Zopa”)

After the long last day, we wake up at 11:00 h. We decided to relax because after the Valladolid concert we will were travelling right to Valencia by car.
Dani and I went destination Pucela at 12:00 h. We stopped to have “breakfast”, yes to have “breakfast” at 13:00 at a gas station in the freeway.
At 14:30 we arrived to Valladolid. After few attempts to find a parking for the car, finally we succeeded it and went to Plaza Mayor, where they were waiting for us very hungry. There were Rubén Olmedo, Pacus 73 and Raúl Gonzalo. Once again, I had the same feelings that I had in the past days. What a great pleasure to meet at last Rubén Olmedo, one of the pioneers, and in charge of organization of the 3 first Rendez!!
We were very hungry, so we went to eat to a restaurant. It was difficult to find a restaurant, because it was a holyday in Valladolid and all the restaurants were full of people, but fortunately, we found a good place, with a great menu and it only cost 12 Euros!!

As soon we started to eat, Carlos Ávila (Aeronautic) called me by phone, a good friend who I met at the concert of Francis Rimbert in Suresnes last June, and told me that he was already at the Auditorium, waiting for the musicians. We changed opinions each other and we decided to see each other there after lunch.

In that moment, I called Francis again and he told me that he were already there and that I could go there when I want, because I’ve got my pass and I could do what I want (but not photos with flash).
So, after lunch, we went right to the Auditorium.

Once there, I met Carlos and a tiny group of fans (I’m sorry, I don’t remember their names), and we were chatting about previous concerts, about what we were waiting for this concert, etc, etc, etc.

Oxygène Tour 2008: Madrid

DAY 2: MADRID: (Translated by Javier Moragón “Zopa”)

The alarm clock rings. It’s 8:00 A.M. It was not a dream… What happened yesterday was for real!! It was so real, that I’ve got a T-shirt. And where is my program?? Oh, yes, Rimbert has it… Would he take it me back signed by Jarre?? Or would be he forgets it somewhere as he is such an absent minded person??

Well, after having a quick shower, and after having a big breakfast with Marta and Karel (we don’t know when we would have lunch), we took the baggage and we went very quickly right to the airport (thanks to Marta, she is a brilliant driver; we arrived there in less than 30 minutes).
Meanwhile we were waiting at the airport I enjoyed a very nice chat with Karel. We talked about personal issues, like family, work, etc, etc… Issues that now and then are nice to talk about to discover the human side of every person.

After a long wait finally we took the flight to Madrid. Of course, we arrived with more than 30 minutes of delay, but it didn’t mind so much. We had plenty of time ahead.
Karel and I took different ways at the underground, because he was going to his Hotel in Gran Via and I was going to meet with another great friend and great person, Dani (Vignemale in the Forum). After leave my baggage in his home, we left there right to have lunch at Bar Al Norte, beside the Royal Palace… And finally we arrived there at 15:30 or so. There was waiting for us the great David (Piscis 13). It was a big pleasure to meet him in person and to share a great menu with him, Dani and Karel.
